Broadcasts & Certificates
Broadcasts are company-wide announcements, and Certificates are official employment documents — proof of employment, salary, career history, and similar — issued for an individual employee. Both live under People, and both generate a PDF using a template you configure once.
Where it lives
- People → Communication — company announcements (also called Broadcasts).
- People → Certificates — issued certificates.
- HR Settings → Documents — default PDF templates for both, plus your company's custom certificate types.
- The Communication widget on the Daily Hub shows the three latest announcements to every employee, with a Send Announcement shortcut for admins.
Broadcasts
A broadcast has a type — Policy Update, Announcement, Benefits, or Event — a title, a description, and a target audience: All Employees, a specific Department, a specific Member Group, or specific individual employees. An optional expiry date removes it from the feed after that date. Save Draft keeps it editable; Publish Broadcast sends it out (a description is required to publish, even though it's optional while drafting). Only a draft can be deleted or edited afterward — a published broadcast can be Archived (and unarchived) instead.
Opening a broadcast automatically marks it read for you; a Mark as Read button is also available for explicitly acknowledging it. The list shows each broadcast's read count against its recipient count, and can be filtered by status, category, and publish date. Attachments can only be added once a broadcast has been saved as a draft (PDF, PNG, JPG, XLS or DOC, up to 10MB each).
Certificates
A certificate is one of several built-in types — Employment, Salary, Career, Tenure, Employment Withdrawal, Tax Withholding, Reinstatement — plus any custom types your company defines (a name, a code, and an optional description) right from the issue dialog or from HR Settings → Documents. Issuing one asks for the employee, the certificate type, an optional purpose (e.g. "for bank submission"), and — for companies whose country has a second working language — which language to generate it in. The certificate list tracks Total Issued, issued This Month, Pending (draft) and Voided as quick counters, and can be filtered by status, type, employee, and issued date.
A certificate can be issued from the Certificates list itself, from a Member row's Issue Certificate action, or directly from an employee's detail page via its Certificate menu. Once issued, editing or deleting is only available while the certificate is still in Draft — an Issued or Voided certificate is locked.
Document templates
HR Settings → Documents is where each broadcast/communication document type and each certificate type — built-in or custom — gets its default PDF template. You can add a new template in the visual designer, edit or copy an existing one, and (for a custom certificate type) remove the type entirely; removing a type leaves any certificates already issued under it untouched, but blocks issuing new ones until it's re-added.
Common problems
- A published broadcast can't be deleted — only drafts can be deleted; archive it instead.
- The certificate row's Edit/Delete actions are missing — they only appear while the certificate is in Draft status.
- No language option appears when issuing a certificate — the picker only shows up for companies whose country has a distinct primary language beyond English.
