Daily Hub & Shifts

The Daily Hub is every employee's personal HR dashboard, and Shifts covers the reusable shift templates and the weekly roster a manager builds from them. Together they answer the day-to-day questions: what's my status today, what's my next shift, and who's scheduled when.

Where it lives

  • My Work → Overview — the Daily Hub dashboard.
  • HR Settings → Shift Patterns — define reusable shift templates (HR admin).
  • My Team → Shift Roster — the weekly planner that assigns patterns to people (manager/admin).

The Daily Hub dashboard

The dashboard is a grid of widgets you can drag and resize; your layout is remembered per user. Depending on your role and your Member Group's settings, you'll see some subset of:

  • Clock In — today's work status. Only appears if your Member Group has timestamp tracking turned on.
  • My Shifts — your published shifts for the next 7 days.
  • Weekly Progress and Leave Balance — quick progress summaries.
  • Recent Requests — your latest leave/overtime/business-trip/work-hours requests.
  • Daily Tasks — a checklist of recurring HR-related to-dos.
  • Communication — the latest company announcements, with a "Send Announcement" shortcut for admins.
  • Finish Your Onboarding — appears only while your onboarding packet is incomplete.
  • Visa Expiring, Pending Filings, and To Do — admin/manager-only widgets that surface things needing attention.

Clocking in and out

The Clock In widget shows your current work mode — Office, Remote, or Field Work (you can switch between them while clocked in) — with a ring showing progress toward your scheduled work day, drawn from your Member Group's clock-in/out times and break minutes. On Leave is a fourth state, but it's set automatically by an approved leave request that covers today, not something you select — the widget switches to a day-count view instead of the clock while you're on leave, and blocks clocking in until it's over.

Clock In and Clock Out buttons sit below the ring, along with the elapsed time, expected clock-out time, and overtime once you're past your scheduled hours. If a session was already closed but needs correcting, a Request Correction link opens a Work Hours Change request pre-filled with that session's times.

Shift Patterns

A shift pattern is a small reusable template: a name and code, a color (used as the roster's chip color), clock-in and clock-out times, and break minutes. A clock-out time earlier than clock-in is valid and means the shift crosses midnight — the form shows the computed paid hours and flags it as an overnight shift.

The Shift Roster

The roster is a grid — employees down the side, the visible 7-day week across the top. Click a cell to select it, drag across cells to paint a rectangle, or click a row/column header to select a whole employee's week or a whole day. With cells selected, pick a shift pattern from the dropdown and Apply to assign it — new assignments start as Draft and are only visible to the planner, shown with a dashed border and a trailing *. Clear removes an assignment from the selected cells, and Publish Range flips every draft in the visible week to Published, which is when it appears on the employee's own My Shifts widget. Select All / Deselect All and a running count of drafts and selected cells help with bulk changes; you can page the grid a week at a time or jump back to the current week.

Common problems

  • The Clock In widget isn't showing up — check the employee's Member Group: timestamp tracking has to be turned on (HR Settings → Member Groups) for the widget to appear at all.
  • A shift doesn't show for the employee — draft assignments are planner-only; use Publish Range once the week is finalized.
  • Can't clock in again today — clocking in is blocked once today already has a clock-in recorded, and while an earlier session (even from a previous day) is still open; clock that one out first.
