Daily Logs

The Daily Logs tab is the field record for a project — a dated journal of what happened on site each day. It's built for construction and field work, where a defensible daily record of crew, conditions, and progress matters for billing, claims, and disputes.

What a daily log captures

Each log is tied to a date and the project, and can record:

  • A summary of the day's work and internal notes
  • Weather for the site — pulled automatically for the project location and date, and cached so it isn't re-fetched
  • Crew on site and equipment used
  • Checklist responses defined by the log's template
  • Photos and other attachments
  • Template-driven custom fields

Logs are listed newest-first, each card showing the date, the weather, crew and photo counts, and a preview — expand one to see the full detail.

Smart capture

Daily logs are designed to be filled out fast from the field:

  • Voice notes — record a spoken note and have it transcribed to text automatically (supports common audio formats).
  • AI summary — generate a clean written summary from the day's notes, with tags and action items detected for you.
  • Auto weather — conditions and temperature are fetched for you rather than typed.

These keep field reporting honest and low-effort, so logs actually get filed.

Filing a log

Click New Log to open the form. Pick the date, choose a template (or use your company default), then fill the summary, add crew, work through the template's checklist and custom fields, and attach photos. Save it as a draft or submit it. If your company has set a default daily-log template, new logs start pre-shaped without you choosing one each time.

Daily-log templates

A daily-log template defines the shape of the form — so an electrical crew, a landscaping crew, and a general contractor each get the fields that matter to them. A template specifies:

  • An industry (Construction, Manufacturing, Field Service, Maintenance, Landscaping, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, General, or Other)
  • Field definitions — the custom fields on the form, including type, whether they're required, and optional auto-population from project or customer data
  • Checklist items — recurring items to confirm each day
  • Default values
  • Feature toggles — whether to enable weather, voice transcription, and AI summary, and whether to require photos or a signature

You can build your own templates, start from the provided system templates, and duplicate a template to branch a variant. Set your company's go-to template as the default so it's applied to every new log automatically.
